What Motivated Me To Go Raw?

Going on a diet of any kind was very weird to me because I have always been a size 4 or 6. I may not have had a weight issue but I sure had a sick and tired of being sick and tired issue. I had gone to many eye doctors, some specialists, that never said anything about my nutrition. I went from one doctor to another getting prescriptions of eye drops and antibiotics. I was so desperate that I got the prescriptions filled. I thought my issues were in my eyes since they were always red, teary and swollen. I also experienced chronic fatigue, thyroid issues, brain fog, food allergies, insomnia, sinus problems, hives and irritability just to name a few.

I began to search for more of a natural approach since I had so many other issues. It was good solution but very expensive. Insurance unfortunately does not pay for the practice of holistic medicine. But more attention was focused on my diet and lifestyle. At this time I was diagnosed with leaky gut syndrome and gluten intolerance. I had never heard those terms before. This meant all those wonderful muffins I would grab every morning at whole foods and of course not chewing them well caused me to become gluten intolerant. The leaky gut syndrome meant my gut was so inflamed causing holes to form in the lining. All my undigested food from not chewing properly leaked into my blood stream causing the food allergies.

Eighty percent of our immune system is in the colon. So clearly mine was not functionally properly which brought on all these illnesses. I first started out on an elimination diet. That meant, I eliminated white flour, white sugar, dairy, and of course processed food. What else was left for me to eat? RAW food and more RAW food! This was very different for me but much needed. Once I started, I noticed how different my body felt. It was an amazing transition. I can honestly say that I will never go back to eating an unhealthy diet; my cells just won’t let me!
