Maca

My Secret “SuperFood” for My Menopausal Symptoms

My most challenging symptoms when I turned 50 has been HOT FLASHES! Anybody out there know about having your very own personal sauna at any given time! It can be pretty miserable. This amazing powder, called Maca, relieves menstrual issues, alleviates cramps, body pain, hot flashes, anxiety, mood swings, and depression. Maca works as a hormonal regulator. Hormonal imbalances cause PMS problems. So if you find yourself overcome with anxiety, stress, depression or mood swings, Maca may help alleviate these symptoms.

Maca is a root which grows in the mountains of Peru at high altitudes of 7,000 to 11,000 feet, making it the highest altitude growing plant in the world. It has been consumed for thousands of years for its energy-enhancing and mood-stabilizing capabilities. When I first started using Maca, I started with ½ teaspoon and now I use 1 tablespoon as my average daily dose. I use Maca in my smoothies, juices, salad dressings and raw sweets (raw chocolate candy, macaroons and cookies).

Maca is rich in vitamin B vitamins, C, and E. It also provides plenty of calcium, zinc, iron, magnesium, phosphorous and amino acids. Maca root also helps to nourish the skin and improve collagen synthesis resulting in firmer, softer, more radiant skin. Here is a great reason to use Maca: It is a real libido booster for people or couples who would like an enhancement in that department. Eating Maca regularly has been known to help.

Within days of using Maca, I noticed my energy level had increased. If you find yourself tired most of the time, experiment with Maca to see if it helps. Many athletes take Maca for peak performance because it increases your stamina. Just a small amount could be exactly what you need for a boost!

TIP: It is best not to add it to anything hot because it will lose all its benefits.
